When Mad Cave Studios started their Maverick Imprint for the YA market, they embraced the opportunity to both entertain and educate through their titles. Since then, Mad Cave stepped up in a huge way with the acquisition of one of the premier PaperCutz. But that’s not all. Now, Mad Cave has gone even further with a partnership with the Rainbow Group and Winx Graphic Novels which has been a fan favorite since 2004. This was announced in the following Press Release:
Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group Have Officially Engaged to Publish Winx Graphic Novels
February 22, 2023 – Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group Have Officially Engaged to Publish Winx Graphic Novels for young adult and middle grade readers through Maverick & Papercutz.
Set in a magical universe that is inhabited by fairies, witches, and other mythical creatures, the beloved Winx stories originally premiered in 2004, becoming a ratings success in Italy and on Nickelodeon networks internationally. Unlike many other remakes, The Winx Club has been evolving in some way ever since its conception, keeping its original DNA alive while riding the wave of new trends over time.
Under the agreement, Mad Cave Studios will be publishing young adult graphic novels under their imprint Maverick as well as middle grade adaptations via their recently acquired middle grade imprint Papercutz.
Allison Pond – Mad Cave Chief Marketing Officer
“Winx Club is the perfect match for Maverick & Papercutz.” said Allison Pond, Mad Cave Chief Marketing Officer. “On the surface, Winx hosts a magical world to be discovered and explored, but at its core Winx reveals to young readers that even a regular ‘Earth Girl’ has access to magical abilities within herself. We hope that readers will find themselves within the pages of these stories, in the same way Bloom finds herself.”
Mark Irwin – Mad Cave Senior Vice President
“We’re very happy to welcome Winx Club to our Mad Cave Studios group of imprints,” said Mark Irwin, Mad Cave Senior Vice President.
Cristiana Buzelli – SVP, Content and Licensing at Rainbow
“We are thrilled to partner with Maverick & Papercutz” said Cristiana Buzzelli, SVP, Content and Licensing at Rainbow. “They are going to be the best home for Winx Club in the graphic novel space and they have the capabilities and expertise to deliver amazing stories to Winx fans and readers. Can’t wait to see this happen!”.
The first of a number of Winx stories will be released in 2024.
