About Endlessness
Street Date: August 3, 2021 (On Demand)
Synopsis: A reflection on human life in all its beauty and cruelty, its splendor and banality. We wander, dreamlike, gently guided by our Scheherazade-esque narrator. Inconsequential moments take on the same significance as historical events: a couple floats over a war-torn Cologne; on the way to a birthday party, a father stops to tie his daughter’s shoelaces in the pouring rain; teenage girls dance outside a cafe; a defeated army marches to a prisoner-of-war camp.
Simultaneously an ode and a lament, About Endlessness presents a kaleidoscope of all that is eternally human, an infinite story of the vulnerability of existence.
From acclaimed Swedish director Roy Andersson (A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence), and producers Johan Carlsson (Tomorrow’s Another Day) and Pernilla Sandström (You, The Living), the artistic drama stars Martin Serner, Jessica Louthander, Tatiana Delaunay, Anders Hellström, Jan-Eje Ferling, Bengt Bergius and Thore Flygel.
The Unthinkable
Street Date: August 3, 2021 (DVD and On Demand)
Synopsis: The Unthinkable (originally titled Den Blomstertid nu kommer), opens to Sweden waking up to a state of emergency in midsomer. The TV, internet and telephone networks are down, and before anyone realizes what’s behind the collapse, a series of unexplained crises take place around the country.
Alex (Christoffer Nordenrot, A Man Called Ove), a successful pianist whose controlled existence is upturned when his mother dies in a suspected terror attack, returns to his childhood village to arrange the funeral. While there, he must reconcile with both his father and his old flame, Anna (Lisa Henni, “Midnight Sun”), who he has desperately been trying to forget. As old feelings come back to the surface, more mysterious attacks plunge Sweden into chaos and confusion.
From first-time feature director Victor Danell, a core member of Swedish film collective Crazy Pictures, The Unthinkable is produced by John Nordling (Let Me In) and Emil Wiklund (Swoon), and also stars Jesper Barkselius (“(Re)volt”) and Pia Halvorsen (“We Got This”).
Riders of Justice
Street Date: August 17, 2021 (Blu-Ray, DVD and On Demand)
Synopsis: Riders of Justice follows recently-deployed Markus (Mads Mikkelsen), who is forced to return home to care for his teenage daughter after his wife is killed in a tragic train accident. But, when a survivor of the wrecked train surfaces claiming foul play, Markus begins to suspect his wife was murdered and embarks on a mission to find those responsible.
