[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”32861″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]By now, most Superman fans know that before Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill played the Man of Steel, Nicholas Cage was supposed to. That was originally set to be produced back in 1990’s. Superman Lives was to be directed by Tim Burton and star the renowned actor and Superman fan. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

Flash forward to the present and the anticipated CW extravaganza of Crisis on Infinite Earths. It features a mix of the Arrowverse, Supergirl, Flash and Black Lightning shows along with a triumvirate of Supermen. This includes Brandon Routh donning the cape along with Tyler Hoechlin‘a CW version. And if that is not enough,  Smallville’s Tom Welling appears as Clark Kent (Superman). Well come to find out, an attempt was made to bring Nicholas Cage onboard with his version of Superman.

This was revealed by Marc Guggenheim, Arrowverse producer, when questioned about the possibility:

You know, to be honest with you, and because I never want to lie on these things, that was…yeah, I actually did…we did reach out to Nic Cage.

While Guggenheim never revealed what prevented the appearance, the fact that Cage is such a Superman “Super-Fan,” it must have been something major. Would you have liked to have seen Nicholas Cage finally don the cape and boots? Share your thoughts with us at GeekVibesNation.
