Margot Robbie is trading the margaritas for rum. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie is teaming back up with Christina Hodson for a female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean film. Before we go any further, please note that this project is separate from the previously announced franchise reboot that is currently being developed by Ted Elliot and Craig Mazin.
Not much is known about the project, but it’s not intended as a spinoff of the Pirates franchise, which previously starred Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. This is a whole new story with characters under the Pirates moniker. Jerry Bruckheimer, who has been the longtime producer of the Pirates franchise, will produce both the Elliot/Mazin and Robbie/Hodson project.
