Margot Robbie Would Love to Have Poison Ivy in the DCEU

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”11016″ img_size=”980×503″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy’s friendship (and in some instances, romantic relationship) is iconic within the DC world. But, we’ve yet to see the two interact on screen in a live-action sense. Birds of Prey is Margot Robbie’s upcoming film, directed by Cathy Yan; and featuring some of the most well-known femme fatales of DC coming together against Black Mask. But, we’re not getting Poison Ivy and the last time we saw her on the big screen in a movie was Uma Thurman’s rendition in 1997.

Speaking with Pride Source, Robbie spoke on the relationship between Ivy and Harley and her interest in bringing the two on screen together:

“Yeah. If you read the comics you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics you can see that they’re actually sexually involved as a couple. I’ve been trying to – I would love to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because the Harley and Poison Ivy relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I’m looking to explore that on screen”

She went on to say that she is pretty open-minded as to who she’d like to play the well-known character. So, Hollywood, let’s make this happen! Not only would it be amazing to see their fantastic bond on screen, but Poison Ivy would certainly be someone Harley needs to help steer her away from her abusive relationship with the Joker. And to display a relationship between the two on screen would be huge for the DCEU, so hopefully, this can be something to move towards in the future.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
