Marvel Ends Contracts With Steve Lightfoot and Paul Zbyszewski Due to COVID-19 Industry Shutdown

Everyone is needing to make cuts and that includes the entertainment industry. Not only are movies affected, but TV is taking a hit as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has decided to terminate the overall deals made with TV showrunners Steve Lightfoot and Paul Zbyszewski. Their deals were with Marvel and not Disney-owned ABC Studios. If you remember, Lightfoot is the man behind Netflix’s The Punisher series. Zbszewski was the showrunner for the upcoming Hulu Helstrom series. The series was able to wrap physical production behind the COVID-19 pandemic forced everything to shut down.

Zbyszewski will wrap up with Helstrom; as for Lightfoot – his work with Marvel stopped at The Punisher. Both layoffs come from the need to buckle down on spending in order to try to remain afloat during these uncertain times. I am sure other studios will look to do the same. Marvel has currently declined to comment.

Hopefully, both can work with Marvel again in the future.
