As a long time fan of the Fantastic Four and an admitted hopeless romantic, an event is transpiring that has been in the making since not long after her first introduction in issue#8 way back in 1962. Marvel proudly presents: The Wedding of Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters. (Please hold down the applause people).
Ben Grimm and Alicia have been on and off again partners for over 50 years (in comic years anyways). Finally they are tying the proverbial knot in Fantastic Four issue#5. Here is the cover (suitable for framing in MY humble opinion)
Along with the Happy announcement, our friends at Marvel couldn’t resist tossing a little shade towards their friendly competitors at DC and their recent “almost” Batman nuptials. As fans who have read the book know, Batman and Catwoman’s wedded bliss got derailed at the end. Not so with Ben and Alicia’s big day according to Marvel as their official release states:
“Gather your friends, find your best clothing, and get ready to party – Marvel is celebrating a wedding that has been years in the making, and it’s the union of Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters! And don’t worry, Marvel fans – this wedding will definitely have the happy couple saying “I do!”
I bet somewhere, Catwoman is drawing mustaches on Alicia Masters wedding announcements. Ouch!
For those fans of the Fantastic Four (like myself) are you of the opinion of “it’s about freaking time? As for Batman fans, my apologies for posting this on “Batman” day. It’s a good thing you are so level headed and not inclined to be offended…right? Right??? As Quantum Leaps Samuel Beckett might say, “Oh Boy!” Share your thoughts with us at GVNation.
