Mayim Bialik Was “Shocked” To Hear The Big Bang Theory Is Ending

When a show is ending, you never really think about how a series cancelation is essentially just a mass layoff. All the actors, camera crew, scriptwriters, costume designers, etc. just got fired. Imagine working somewhere and receiving an announcement that the company is coming to a close in a few months and you’ll all have to go out to find a new job. I can certainly relate. If you’ve spent years somewhere, felt comfortable, know the job in and out, it’s hard to imagine integrating into a new workplace.

For The Big Bang Theory, the cast will have to take their final bow, as it was announced that season twelve will be its last. For the average viewer, we can understand. It’s been a long time and we wonder, how much of the story is there to tell? It’s always better to end on a high note, rather than have a show drag on and viewers wondering when someone is going to take the hint that it is time to end the series. But, for some members who have called the show home, it came to as an upsetting shock.

Mayim Bialik, who has played the neurobiologist and Sheldon’s on again/off again partner Amy Farrah Fowler; has been with the show since season four and was none too happy when receiving the news of the show’s ending.

“Am I happy? Of course not. The Big Bang Theory has been my job since Melissa Rauch and I joined the cast as regulars in Season 4. I love my job. I love my castmates, and I feel such appreciation for our incredible crew, our brave writers, our entire staff, and our amazing fans. So many people are a part of our Big Bang family. This is hard. I love coming to work and pretending to be Amy. She’s a riot. She’s me, and I am her. And soon she will not be mine to create.”

Bialik penned this and more in a letter on Grok Nation, where she talked about the sow, motherhood, and the extreme gratitude she feels towards fans of the show. You should read it in its entirety. Are you sad to see The Big Bang Theory end?
