‘Maze Runner’ Director to head a new version of ‘Planet of the Apes’

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”32695″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]If there is a franchise that has had some holding power, it is the Planet of the Apes. Starting with the original adaptation back in 1968, the Ape franchise has spanned the generations. This includes  a television series,  an animated series and a number of film remakes. The most recent was the trilogy of films that used Mo-Cap technology to great effect. This in no small part due to the performances of Andy Serkis as Caesar.

But since the purchase of Fox by Disney, the future of the Planet of the Apes franchise was in a holding pattern. Until now. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Mazerunner Director Wes Ball has been brought in to head and direct a new installment of Planet of the Apes. It is not known if this will be a continuation of the recent films or a new take on the franchise. However, it would not be Ball’s first time dealing with a dystopian future world as his Maze Runner films also explored that genre.

Are you excited about the prospect of another Planet of the Apes film? How do you feel about Wes Ball heading the project? Share your feelings with us at GeekVibesNation.
