MCU’s The Eternals Production Info Revealed and More

What’s to happen after Avengers: Endgame? While we have a Spider-Man sequel coming out and we know that Black Panther and Doctor Strange are getting sequels, along with a Black Widow solo movie. Other than that, we don’t know what else is happening post-Endgame. Well, it seems that the long-talked-about movie the Eternals is actually happening and has snagged director Chloe Zhao (The Rider) to start production on the movie later this year.

The Eternals will take place millions of years prior to the current MCU and production will take place in Atlanta on August 1 of this year. Zhao will be working from a script written up from Matthew and Ryan Firpo. Production Weekly put out a listing with a description of the film:

“The story of The Eternals is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race. The story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes in moving amongst humans.”

The Eternals may be a prequel of sorts that will not interact with the current MCU, but we can see their influence throughout the current cinematic universe, specifically in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. The Collector’s location “Knowhere” is the head of a dead Celestial and Peter Quill’s father in the sequel was Ego, the living plant; who was a Celestial.
