After appearing in Daddy’s Home 2, with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, Mel Gibson has been a busy man and he’s about to get busier. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Gibson recently signed to appear with Charlie Hunnam and Eiza Gonzalez in Waldo.
This action-packed thriller is based on the novel Last Looks by Howard Gould. It will be directed by filmmaker Tim Kirkby, who is best known for directing episodes of Veep and the pilot for Fleabag. Waldo tells the story of disgraced former LAPD detective Charlie Waldo (Hunnam), who is shown living the life of a minimalist in the woods. All is good until he finds his quiet life interrupted when he is convinced to return to work as a private eye and hired to investigate the murder of an eccentric TV star’s wife. Filming is set to start in the early part of 2019, while the film is set to be released next summer.
