Audiobooks are huge now. Instead of taking the time to sit down and read a book, people are choosing to put on their headphones and listen. That is not me dissing the concept at all. We all live busy lives and there is, in fact, scientific evidence that proves that listening to your novels is just the same as reading. It’s better for your mind to listen to books while driving to work rather than the radio or Pandora. And for Harry Potter fans, who doesn’t want to listen to your favorite stories on the way to and from the office?
Game of Thrones’s Natalie Dormer has been brought on to narrate Harry Potter: A History of Magic. This new piece from Pottermore Publishing will reveal some of the inspirations behind J.K. Rowlings Harry Potter centered world. The audiobook will be available to buy October 4th and you can preorder it right now. As far as why Dormer chose to narrate Harry Potter: A History of Magic, she had this to say:
“I’ve always adored the Harry Potter books, but it wasn’t until I started speaking with the British Library’s curators – hearing about the various myths, legends and cultures that have helped shape the wizarding world – that I really began to appreciate the richness and depth of J. K. Rowling’s writing. There are so many wonderful details to explore and A History of Magic unearths some remarkable gems of information that are sure to have listeners awestruck. It’s been fun to join the Wizarding World family.” – Dormer’s statements in a press release.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited for the story, Dormer, or both?
