Netflix Acquires Ubisoft’s The Division

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”24039″ img_size=”800×458″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal have been attached to the adaptation of the popular Ubisoft video game The Division for three years. Since July of 2016, these two popular actors were then joined by director David Leitch in April of 2018. Things have been relatively quiet since today at E3, where Ubisoft announced that Netflix had acquired the movie.

The Division takes place in the near future where a pandemic virus was spread by paper money on Black Friday. It decimated New York City and killed millions. It’s by Christmas that the remaining population has dived straight into chaos. A group of civilians jump into action in order to save whatever is left of society.

Netflix often makes their own films and we’ve seen they can be hit or miss. Jake Gyllenhaal has had experience with Netflix’s Velvet Buzzsaw, so it’ll be interesting to see what the streaming service does with The Division.

Are you excited that The Division has been picked up by Netflix?
