Netflix Teaming With Legendary for ‘SKULL ISLAND’ and ‘TOMB RAIDER’ Anime Series

Fresh off the new Godzilla vs Kong trailer and the announcement of a sequel to the Alicia Vikander led Tomb Raider film, fans are eagerly anticipating the futures for both franchises. Today it has been reported by Deadline that Legendary has joined forces with Netflix to bring a new anime series set in each of their respective universes.

‘Skull Island’ will take place firmly in the continuity of the current MonsterVerse and, much like the 2017 film, will follow a group of shipwrecked characters as they attempt to survive the horrors and monsters of skull island. The series will be run by Brian Duffield (Underwater, The Babysitter) and Jacob Robinson who will be producing under his company Tractor Pants. The animation will be done by Powerhouse Animation who previously worked on ‘Castlevania’ for Netflix.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ anime will not follow the movies and instead will follow the games from Square Enix and will pick up after the conclusion of the reboot trilogy (2013-2018). The series will see Tasha Huo (Red Sonja) as executive producer and series writer along with dj2 Entertainment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson (Sonic the Hedgehog), Stephen Bugaj, and Howard Bliss. And Jacob Robinson’s company Tractor Pants will produce this series as well.

After these announcements and knowing the futures for both Kong and Lara Croft in regards to their live action portrayals, which anime series has you the most excited?
