On Thursday, February 8, Geek Vibes Nation attended a special preview of three upcoming Netflix events coming in February and March. Members of @NetflixGeeked hosted the event. Verizon sponsored it ahead of Super Bowl LVIII at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Guests and media members were given exclusive first looks at some of Netflix’s most highly anticipated releases. This included Avatar: The Last Airbender, 3 Body Problem, and Rebel Moon—Part Two: The Scargiver. Attendees could hear firsthand from filmmakers, creators, and talent, including exclusive features, clips, and trailers. Unfortunately, GVN cannot describe them below because of a strict embargo.
Hosting the events were New Orleans Saints running back Jamaal Williams, @NetflixGeeked, host, and social media manager Terri Schwartz. Please read below for all the details!
The @NetflixGeeked Panel for Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender!
The Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender panel included four cast members. Those were Gordon Cormier, who plays “Aang”; Kiawentiio, who plays “Katara”; Dallas Liu, who plays “Prince Zuko”; and Ian Ousley, who plays “Sokka.” The young cast brought enthusiastic energy to the panel. Gordon Cormier was the highlight of the conversation, bringing up his excitement while learning stunts for the action sequences.
Ian Ousley showed off his jacket, simulating a “bending” slow-motion martial arts maneuver. Kiawentiio began discussing growing with her character Katara and the meaty role of delving into her character’s emotions growing up without a mother.
Overall, the cast did discuss the importance of representing the beloved animated television series franchise and the importance of their Asian cast.
Avatar: The Last Airbender streams on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024.
The @NetflixGeeked for Netflix’s 3 Body Problem!
The Netflix series 3 Body Problem panel included the three co-creators, True Blood’s Alexander Woo and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The series is an adaptation of a series of novels of the same name by Liu Cixin. The series star is Marvel’s Benedict Wong, who plays Detective Da Sh, the main character.
The show has a lot of buzz, notably because of the creative team from Game of Thrones and the ambitious project of adapting such sprawling source material. Benioff commented that what drew him to the project was how different Cixin’s series is from the science fiction genre. “These books are such a different take on the genre than we have never seen before,” Benioff said.
Woo was asked to describe the series in one sentence. He said, “3 Body Problem is the story of humanity from the point of first contact from an alien civilization all the way to the end of the universe.” D.B. Weiss added, “We are living in a time where there are over 600 shows on the air.”
Also, saying, “When we read these books, on the one hand, it scared the sh*t out of us because we are like (we) don’t know how to adapt this because this is so big and so wild. But the only other time we had that feeling was Game of Thrones.” We can’t wait to see if they can make that happen.
3 Body Problem streams on Netflix on March 21st, 2024.
The Panel for Netflix’s Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver!
The final panel was for Netflix’s Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver, which included director Zack Snyder and star Sofia Boutella, who plays Kora. Snyder was asked to discuss what to expect from the second installment since the first ended on such a cliffhanger. Snyder said that “The Scargiver” is the third act of his original 250-page script. Saying, “It’s a war movie.”
Boutella enthusiastically interjects how the follow-up allows more in-depth backstories of the characters. Additionally, saying there are more sparks of life and even more action than the first. Snyder piggybacked off that comment, offering that we learn more about the “village” and why they fight if you will, which includes the cultural immersion of the world he created.
Boutella said he is so excited about the Rebel Moon franchise because of Snyder and the aesthetic he offers with his films. Due to the embargo, we cannot discuss the exclusive clips. However, Snyder’s infectious personality and, I would say, bombastic enthusiasm in Part 2 has us intrigued.
Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver streams on Netflix on April 19th, 2024.
You can stream upcoming events, Avatar: The Last Airbender, 3 Body Problem, and Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver only on Netflix.

When I’m not writing about movies, I patiently wait for the next Pearl Jam album and pass the time by scratching my wife’s back on Sunday afternoons while she watches endless reruns of California Dreams.
