Campbell’s return to the franchise comes after her absence from Scream 6, where she cited financial concerns as the reason for not participating. However, the circumstances seem to have changed, and Campbell emphasized that she was asked to return in a “respectful way” to bring Sidney back to the screen.

In 2022, Campbell stated that the offered amount for Scream 6 did not align with the value she brought to the franchise. This decision garnered significant support from fans who appreciated her advocating for fair compensation, especially given Sidney Prescott’s central role in the Scream storyline.
