Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming film Encanto stars Stephanie Beatriz. This is according to The Illuminerdi, who reported that Encanto will be centered around a magical family living in a magical house in Colombia.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the music for Encanto and revealed:
“So often when you get into story mode, it turns into the hero and the quest—and you lose characters, then you lose complexity because everything becomes the quest.”
The Illuminerdi also provided information for two supporting characters. One being Dolores, a 20-year-old Afro-Latina woman. Dolores is “awkward and anxious” but has good intentions and she’s a good singer. Camilo is the other character – a 16-year-old Afro-Latino boy who is a natural storyteller. They have not cast actors for these roles yet.
They have, however; cast Maribel – the lead – with Stephanie Beatriz. Maribel is the lead and narrator of the film and is also a 15-year-old-girl. She’s lovable and funny. According to reports, her character has been compared to Lucille Ball.
Encanto will hit theaters on Novem 24, 2021.
