Very little is known about James Mangold’s upcoming installment of Indiana Jones. We do know this will be the final time we see Harrison Ford in the titular role. We know the cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge who is playing Helena, the goddaughter of Indiana Jones. We also know that Madds Mikkelsen will play the villain and other cast members include Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Toby Jones and Antonio Banderas.

Other than that we know really nothing about the plot. Until now…

A source close to GVN has provided us with some exclusive details regarding the plot and the opening of the film. We have been told that the first 30 minutes of the film are set in the 1940s with a de-aged Harrison Ford. Why the film opens to a flashback we are not sure but it might have something to do with the early years of Doctor Jones, much like how Last Crusade opened with him as a teenager.

We have also learned the movie will be set in 1969 and will deal with the moon landings though Indiana and his friends will not be making a trip to outer space.

There is also a twist in place for the movie that we hear might be controversial. What the twist is we do not know and it is possible if it is not received well in test screenings that they scrap it altogether.

We know the alien plot for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull left a bad taste in fans of the franchise so hopefully the studio learned from that. I feel the film is in great hands with Mangold as well.

Do you like the idea of the film being set around the moon landing? Should they keep the controversial material in the film regardless? Let us know in the comments below.

Indiana Jones 5 is set to release on June 30, 2023.
