New ‘Monster’s Inc.’ TV Series Announced for Disney+

Monsters, Inc. (2001)
James P. “Sulley” Sullivan (voice by John Goodman) (L) and Mike Wazowski (voice by Billy Crystal)

It looks like we are heading back to Monstropolis and meeting up with our favorite monster duo again! In 2020, Monsters at Work will be making its debut on Disney+, the upcoming streaming service delivering original film and television content from Walt Disney studios. It will be an animated TV spin-off based on the 2001 original Pixar film, Monster’s Inc. The exciting part is that John Goodman and Billy Crystal will be reprising their roles as the original voice actors of Sulley and Mike Wazowski. Other members from the original cast who will be starring in the new show includes John Ratzenberger (Yeti), Jennifer Tilly (Celia) and Bob Peterson (Roz). We will also be introduced to new faces such as Ben Feldman (Superstore), Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Henry Winkler (Barry), Lucas Neff (Raising Hope), Alanna Ubach (Coco), Stephen Stanton (Star Wars Resistance) and Aisha Tyler (Archer).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Monsters at Work picks up six months after the original movie with the power plant at its center now harvesting the laughter of children to fuel the city of Monstropolis.” The new series will be centered around a new character named Tylor Tuskmon (Feldman), “an eager and talented mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team who dreams of working on the Laugh Floor alongside Mike and Sulley”.

Although we won’t be seeing this continuation of Monster’s Inc. appear for another year, Disney+ as a service is set to launch November 2019 and I cannot wait to hear more about this new form of watching Disney/Pixar/Marvel/Star Wars content, both old and new.
