New Mutants’ Director Says His Movie Will Do Better Than Dark Phoenix

Marvel’s New Mutants may have been delayed [again] due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but director Josh Boone is confident his movie will still do well when compared to another Fox Marvel remnant.

“Look, you can only go up after Dark Phoenix. That’s not to say anything bad about the people involved, but it was what it was. Honestly, I feel less pressure now than I did ahead of [the first slated release date]. Because we’ve tested our movie so many times, and audiences have loved it.”

Dark Phoenix did really poorly at the box office, which grossed lower than any other X-Men movie. It currently ranks at 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite New Mutants having been delayed over the past few years, the recent trailers released have piqued fans’ interest. If and when it gets a theatrical release, it could do quite well.
