Spoilers!
Fans have been waiting for Captain America and Tony Stark to make up since the events of Captain America: Civil War. Which, is why we were all happy when the latest trailer to Avengers: Endgame had Cap and Tony interacting and then shaking hands. So, how upset would you be if you found out that one theory is suggesting that the Cap in those scenes is actually past Cap? We’ve already seen photos that are suggesting time travel and have seen Chris Evans in his 2012 Avengers outfit, so was everything we saw in the Endgame trailer clever editing?
It would make sense, in a way. Why would Tony be asking Cap to trust him? After the events of Civil War and Tony finding out that not only did Bucky Barnes kill his parents and Cap knew about it, shouldn’t it be Cap asking Tony to trust him? This could mean that something happens to present day Cap and Tony, knowing he needs Cap; travels to 2012 for that version of Cap and explains everything to him and then asks Cap to trust him – to which Cap says “I do.” This is a lot of theorizing but, we can never be too sure.
If what we saw in the trailer is clever editing to make us think it’s present-day Cap with his updated costume and not 2012 Cap, I will probably be a little upset. I want so badly for Tony and Cap to make up! But, we know the Russo brothers pulled the rug out from under us in infinity War, so I’m sure Endgame will be just as shocking, if not more.
Avengers: Endgame comes out April 26th!
