[vc_row][vc_column][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/CNzx9XYBaGk” el_width=”90″ align=”center”][vc_column_text]Venom is not a typical “hero”. In fact, in Marvel comics, Venom has always teetered in between being a villain and an anti-hero. Although it seems that the upcoming Venom movie is going to portray the symbiote in an anti-hero light, the film will shine light on some comic books aspects, such as Venom’s cannibalistic manners. In a new trailer, the video highlights the character’s tendency to, well; eat people.
Director Ruben Fleischer did go into detail about the violence that will be highlighted in the upcoming Sony film:
“That’s the plan,” the director said at San Diego Comic-Con. “It is not the plan, that’s the movie. Our movie wants to honor the comics as close as we can tonally. In the comics, he bites people’s heads off and eats brains. It would be weird to make a movie with Venom if he wasn’t doing that. We tried to honor it as closely as possible. This is definitely a darker, more violent, more vicious Marvel character than I think anyone’s ever seen before.”
Tom Hardy aka Eddie Brock aka Venom as expressed excitement over the violence that the movie will include:
“Venom is, by far, for me the…coolest Marvel super hero that there is,” Hardy said. “I just like the way he looks first and foremost. Then, also, there’s my son and he’s a massive Venom fan. He was a very strong influence on me as to why I ought to play Venom specifically…So I did something where I bite people’s heads off which my son can’t see.”
Now, while both the director and Hardy promised violence, Venom was told to be rated PG-13 instead of R. This means the blood, gore, and violence will be lessened to stay within the confines of that rating. This will certainly be interesting, but we are promised a movie that stays true to the character and it is good to see everyone so excited for viewers to see the result of hard work.
Venom hits the movies on October 5th.
