Sandy Cheeks is probably just as well-known and popular as SpongeBob SquarePants. Sandy was introduced in the third episode of the first season of the popular cartoon show back in 1999. Since then, she’s been a close friend of everyone’s favorite undersea sponge.
Now, she’s getting her own spinoff film that will be directed by Liza Johnson. The Sandy movie will be a hybrid project that puts the animated character into a live-action world. Nickelodeon will produce the movie.
Longtime SpongeBob writer Kaz will co-write the script alongside Tom J. Stern, who recently worked on Nickelodeon’s live-action SpongeBob Appreciation Day special.
There’s rumors that the spinoff may hit a streaming platform, but we don’t have the full scoop yet. As we find out more information, we will let you know. What do you think of a Sandy Cheeks spinoff movie?
