Nicolas Cage’s ‘PRISONERS OF THE GHOSTLAND’ Set to Hit Theaters, VOD, and Digital HD in September

It’s been a pretty busy couple of years for Nicolas Cage. Last year saw the release of Jiu Jitsu and The Croods: A New Age. And this year saw Willy’s Wonderland and Pig. But the year’s not over yet for new Nicolas Cage movies.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Sundance favorite Prisoners of the Ghostland is finally coming to theaters, VOD, and Digital HD. Distributed by RLJE films, the new film from director Sion Sono will debut on September 17, 2021, in theaters and on VOD and Digital Hd.

In Prisoners of the Ghostland, “a ruthless bank robber (Cage) is sprung from jail by wealthy warlord The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within three days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman—and his own path to redemption.”

Written by Aaron Hendry and Rexa Sixo Safai, Prisoners of the Ghostland premiered at the 2021 Sundance Festival. The movie also stars Sofia Boutella, Nick Cassavetes, Ed Skrein, Yuzuka Nakaya, and Tak Sakaguchi.
