Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a Danish actor who is best known as Jaime Lannister on HBO’s Game of Thrones. While Coster-Waldau’s run as Jamie is over, his adventures are not. In a brand new documentary series, the actor explores a country we may not often hear about. Through Greenland follows Coster-Waldau as he explores a country that is a little bit America and a little bit nostalgic for him.
What To Expect
While not in the same vein as Zac Efron’s documentary series on Netflix, Through Greenland is still an interesting travel series. Of course, Game of Thrones fans will be happy just to see Coster-Waldau on screen. I know I was. Besides that, I felt informed on different aspects of Greenland that I had not known about. Frankly, I was not well versed at all on Greenland. So, it was nice getting to experience that.
It was also an organic experience for Coster-Waldau. Who has connections through the country by his father. So as we were finding out more about Greenland, it seemed Coster-Waldau was finding more out about his father. Being able to grasp that tangible experience is certainly key to making any travel show worth watching. You want to see the country from a real perspective – not one that is touristy in any way. You want to see the country and land being explored through the eyes of a real person. In Through Greenland, Coster-Waldau was not Jamie Lannister. He wasn’t even an actor. He was a person and it was nice to experience that.
Rating: 4/5
Plus, Coster-Waldau spoke Danish for most of the documentary – enjoyed that!
