No Plans For A ‘Halloween’ Sequel, Not Yet

In a world where sequels are planned years ahead of time, the upcoming Halloween movie has no plans for a sequel, according to producer Jason Blum. This latest movie will be the 11th in the franchise and although it is unlikely that it won’t be the last, there’s nothing signed that says that a sequel will immediately be in the works afterward. It would be smart as well for the studio to wait to see how the recent Halloween movie will do before setting anything in stone.

“We don’t have a plan, but I love your question.” Blum responded to a fan in a deleted tweet.

There are also some rumors that this tweet means that the movie will not be left open-ended. This would follow the trend of the original movie, where John Carpenter freely wrapped up the film, knowing that the studio wouldn’t care how he ended it; they were going to make another Michael Myers film regardless.

In a very similar fashion with Jurassic World jumping to present day from the first Jurassic Park, essentially ignoring the two sequels that followed, the latest Halloween movie will completely ignore the movies after the original and take place 40 years after the 1978 movie.

Halloween will premiere October 19th in theaters.

Actually, yesterday, Jason Blum was answering questions on Twitter and I asked him if there will be a sequel to this halloween film if it performs well at the box office. He responded saying it was a high chance for a sequel if it did.
