For the week of April 21st, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week, we explore fresh theatrical outings such as The Running Man on 4K UHD Blu-Ray from Paramount with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. The Edgar Wright take on the Stephen King source material stars Glen Powell as a man desperate enough to compete on a lethal reality television show. The release comes with a commentary track, a making-of documentary, featurettes, and more. Lesley Manville and Ciarán Hinds star as a married couple who go on a dramatic holiday together in Midwinter Break. The Blu-Ray release does not include any supplements.

We also have 4K UHD upgrades of some acclaimed catalog titles that are not to be missed. Warner Bros. brings the star-studded legal crime drama Sleepers to 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a new 4K restoration in Dolby Vision with some new retrospective featurettes. The Barry Levinson film stars an ensemble cast including Kevin Bacon, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Patric, and Brad Pitt. You will also find Pitt headlining the beloved baseball drama Moneyball on 4K UHD from Sony, also starring Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The release is presented with a 4K SDR master as approved by director Bennett Miller. The release includes featurettes, deleted scenes, and more.

The heroes at The Criterion Collection have the latest in the Eclipse Series with the Blu-Ray release of Kinuyo Tanaka Directs, featuring the six features she made over the course of a decade, centering on women characters who refuse to conform to restrictive roles as they seek independence. Each of these titles has received a 4K restoration that looks gorgeous. Unearthed Films takes us into the realm of the unsettling with the Blu-Ray debut of the 1997 New Zealand horror film The Ugly. The release comes from a 4K restoration and includes a commentary track, a short film, interviews, and more.

Kino Lorber has an array of wonderful titles this month. We have a pair of restored silent-era epics hitting Blu-Ray with The Thief of Bagdad (1924) and Tih-Minh. A few years past this is where we find the German drama The Blue Light, directed by and starring Leni Riefenstahl. This Blu-Ray comes from a 2K restoration with a commentary track. The new queer drama Jimpa starring Olivia Colman, John Lithgow, and Aud Mason-Hyde hits Blu-Ray with interviews and deleted scenes.

The fine individuals at Deaf Crocodile continue to be saviors of unconventional international cinema with the DEFA Fairy Tales set on Blu-Ray. The release includes Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Mother Hulda, The Devil’s Three Golden Hairs, and Snow White and Rose Red. The wildly surreal world of fairy tale films from East Germany’s DEFA Studios are one of the great, overlooked subgenres in world fantasy filmmaking.  The release provides a commentary track for each film, interviews, visual essays, and more.
