A person holds a selection of DVDs with a "No Streaming Required" sign above. A bowl of popcorn and a film reel are in the top corners. Background is red-orange.

We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of August 6th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week we dive into the eagerly anticipated 4K UHD debut of the family favorite The Last Unicorn. The talented vocal ensemble led by Mia Farrow, Alan Arkin, Jeff Bridges, Angela Lansbury, and Christopher Lee still charms over 40 years later, and it makes an even greater impact with the new 4K restoration of the 35mm Interpositive. The new release comes with a making-of documentary, interviews with the creative team, and more. You can also scoop up a gorgeous SteelBook available exclusively at Wal-Mart.

Elsewhere in the world of 4K UHD, the team at Arrow Video is giving action-fantasy fans a deluxe presentation of Clash of the Titans and Wrath of the Titans. The label has remastered the Sam Worthington Greek mythology spectacles in glorious Dolby Vision. This release includes a number of special features including a pair of new interviews. In what might be considered the polar opposite of this release, Kino Classics has released the French classic Last Year at Marienbad with a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative provided by StudioCanal and presented on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in SDR. There is a vast array of special features included to help you decipher this puzzle of a film.

This week we also get the hotly anticipated Blu-Ray release of the award-winning Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso courtesy of Warner Bros. Those who do not want to be beholden to streaming services can now own all 34 episodes in lovely HD in shelf-friendly packaging.

Beloved Australian label Imprint Films has a pair of dramas currently unavailable in the United States that can be played in Blu-Ray players worldwide. Early Ryan Gosling Sundance breakout The United States of Leland arrives on Blu-Ray with a new commentary track from a film historian. The bleak ’90s crime drama Fresh finds a young boy trying to survive as a drug runner while squaring off against the likes of Giancarlo Esposito and Samuel L. Jackson. The new release comes loaded with special features including a director commentary track, new interviews with the creative team, archival featurettes, and more.

This is only a taste of what you can discover on No Streaming Required this week, so be sure to check out the full video below.
