We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of November 12th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week we explore exciting new releases and overlooked older gems from the Warner Archive. First up we have a pair of more modern titles from beloved filmmakers. Christopher Guest continues to show his dominance in the mockumentary space with the Oscar-season satire For Your Consideration featuring the talents of Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Harry Shearer, Ricky Gervais, Fred Willard, Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Lynch, and more. The release comes with a commentary track featuring Guest and Eugene Levy along with nearly 40 minutes of unused footage.

We also have the final film from legendary director Robert Altman with A Prairie Home Companion. The music-driven dramedy has a sprawling cast including Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Lindsay Lohan, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, Meryl Streep, and Lily Tomlin. The release comes with a commentary track from Altman and Kevin Kline plus over an hour of unseen footage and making-of featurettes.

Classic horror fans have a lot to celebrate as we get the long-awaited Humphrey Bogart oddity The Return of Doctor X newly restored in 4K from the Original Camera Negative with a solid collection of new and legacy special features including a commentary track and restored cartoons. The label has also done amazing work with The Walking Dead starring Boris Karloff by restoring it in 4K from the Original Camera Negative. This release features both a new and archival commentary track, a documentary on director Michael Curtiz, and restored cartoons. Finally, we have the creepy The Beast with Five Fingers starring the one-and-only Peter Lorre. The release features a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative, a commentary track, and restored cartoons.

There are also some exciting older releases we are bringing back into the spotlight for a second chance at life. We have two Best Picture nominees with the Gary Cooper war hero biopic Sergeant York and the visceral William A. Wellman war drama Battleground. You will not want to miss some non-traditional Westerns including The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean starring Paul Newman and The Hanging Tree, once again featuring Gary Cooper. There is also one of the earliest iterations of the buddy cop dynamic with Freebie and The Bean. The hilarious crime film stars Alan Arkin and James Caan as the titular bickering duo.

This is only a taste of what you can discover on No Streaming Required this week, so be sure to check out the full video below.
