For the week of November 18th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.
This week, we spotlight films fresh from theaters with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of psychological horror outing Him starring Marlon Wayans, Tyriq Withers, and Julia Fox from Universal. The release comes with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, along with special features including a commentary track, an alternate ending, deleted scenes, and more. We also have the NEON comedy Splitsville starring Michael Angelo Covino, Kyle Marvin, Dakota Johnson, and Adria Arjona. The Blu-Ray release comes with a making-of featurette.
We head over to the land of boutique releases as Cult Epics presents the North American Blu-Ray premiere of the Japanese coming-of-age film The Island Closest to Heaven from director Nobuhiko Obayashi. The new release comes with a lovely HD transfer, a commentary track, a visual essay, a making-of featurette, and more.
The fine folks at Vinegar Syndrome and OCN Distribution have an impressive slate of Partner Label titles on Blu-Ray this month. Film Movement Classics keeps us in Japan with the original uplifting drama Shall We Dance? from director Masayuki Suo and star Koji Yakusho. The film is presented fully uncut for the first time in North America from a gorgeous 4K restoration with archival interviews. We also have the Japanese interpersonal drama Love’s Whirlpool on Blu-Ray from the mainline. The film from Daisuke Miura explores the complex personal and sexual dynamics between eight strangers over a single night. Film Movement Classics also has the ’90s Sundance drama Girl’s Town newly restored in 4K on Blu-Ray. The film starring Lili Taylor, Bruklin Harris, Anna Grace, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor comes with new and archival supplements.

Wrestling fans will not want to miss the documentary Nevermore: The Raven Effect from ETR Media which explores the life of the iconic wrestler. The Blu-Ray release comes with deleted scenes, extended interviews, and more. We have a new release from Cartuna as Sultana’s Dream hits Blu-Ray with a commentary track, featurettes, short films, and more. The stunning film is an exploration of feminist thought across time.
Things get a bit thrilling as Wild Eye Releasing brings the indie exploitation horror outing Model Hunger to Blu-Ray in its uncensored form with three commentary tracks, an audio essay, a retrospective on director Debbie Rochon, and more. Umbrella Entertainment has the Australian psychological thriller Irresistible starring Susan Sarandon, Sam Neil, and Emily Blunt. The Blu-Ray release comes with a commentary track and various featurettes. IFC Films has the dark comedy Sightseers from director Ben Wheatley on Blu-Ray featuring three commentary tracks, interviews, and more.
