A stack of DVD and Blu-ray movie cases, featuring titles like "The Terminator," "Blazing Saddles," and "Susperia," against a teal background.

We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of November 26th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week we spotlight a 4K UHD Blu-Ray upgrade years in the making as Paper Moon finally gets a proper domestic release from The Criterion Collection. The sumptuous new 4K master was created from the 35mm Original Camera Negative with Dolby Vision. The set comes with an archival commentary track from director Peter Bogdanovich, a three-part making-of featurette, a new visual essay, and more fans will not want to miss.

It is a huge week for Warner Bros. as they pull out the big guns just in time for the holiday season. One of the biggest films of the year Beetlejuice Beetlejuice comes home with a 4K UHD Blu-Ray release in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio and a commentary track from director Tim Burton, along with a host of other supplements. The landmark sci-fi tale The Terminator debuts newly remastered for 4K UHD courtesy of director James Cameron. The new release comes in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos along with the original mono track. The great Alfred Hitchcock lands another one on the 4K UHD format with his classic Cary Grant thriller North by Northwest in HDR10. It is not all serious as the hilarious Mel Brooks western comedy Blazing Saddles debuts on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in HDR10 with top marks.

The good folks at Deaf Crocodile have once again proven why they are one of the best in the game with a trio of nearly forgotten gems hitting physical media. The label takes its first foray into the world of 4K UHD with the unsettling horror anthology Trapped Ashes featuring segments from such horror filmmakers as  Joe Dante, Ken Russell, and Sean Cunningham. The set is newly remastered in 4K with Dolby Vision and packed with special features including alternate versions of some of the segments, a commentary track, new interviews, and more. We also have the witchy Irish folk horror tale The Outcasts newly remastered by the Irish Film Institute with a slew of special features including a commentary track, new interviews, and rare short films. Finally, you have the hyperactive Japanese anime satire Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space. This release comes with a commentary track, additional short films, an hour-long interview with one of the creators, and more.

Arrow Video continues to be one of the most exciting labels in the physical media space as they come to play with some highly anticipated titles.  First up, we have the long-awaited 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of A Simple Plan from director Sam Raimi newly restored in 4K from the Original Camera Negative with Dolby Vision. The release arrives with a new commentary track, visual essays, interviews, and much more. They also have the star-studded adaptation The Invasion with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig tackling the classic “Body Snatcher” material. This new 4K UHD Blu-Ray comes with Dolby Vision, a new commentary track, a pair of visual essays, and archival material. Fans of J-Horror will want to take note of the Blu-Ray release of Tomie which comes with some engaging new special features like a new commentary track and interviews.

The fine folks at OCN Distribution have an exciting slate of Partner Label titles on Blu-Ray this month that offers a little something for everyone. Film Movement brings forth the stirring coming-of-age Spanish drama 20,000 Species of Bees which tackles issues of identity within a family. Film Movement Classics offers a double dose of Takeshi Kitano with Violent Cop and Boiling Point. They also have the queer holocaust drama Bent starring Clive Owen in one of his earliest, most powerful roles. Yellow Veil Pictures has the surreal coming-of-age religious tale The Book of Birdie which admirably balances an array of tones that add up to one memorable picture.

Speaking of surreal, Cartuna has the live-action and animation hybrid Adam Green’s Aladdin featuring appearances from Alia Shawkat, Natasha Lyonne, and Macaulay Culkin. One of our favorite labels Shudder has the supernatural Senegalese mercenary thriller Saloum out with a director commentary track. And finally, you can get into the holiday season with the ETR Media documentary I Am Santa Claus featuring beloved wrestling figure Mick Foley.

This is only a taste of what you can discover on No Streaming Required this week, so be sure to check out the full video below.
