First up, Apple TV has its first self-released physical media title with Best Picture winner CODA arriving on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. We can only hope this is the first of a long line of streaming exclusives hitting our shelves. We have another award-winning emotional drama with Familiar Touch from Music Box Films featuring a heartbreaking turn from stage legend Kathleen Chalfant. The Blu-Ray release comes loaded with supplements including a roundtable discussion, interviews, Q&As, and more. Universal closes the book on long-running franchise with Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale on 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. This emotional farewell comes with a commentary track, featurettes, and more.

It is a pretty great week for horror and genre efforts, beginning with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the reimagined twisted comedy The Toxic Avenger starring Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon, and Elijah Wood, from Cineverse. The release comes in HDR10 with a commentary track, interviews, featurettes, and more. Lovers of creature features will want to check out Coyotes starring Justin Long and Kate Bosworth on Blu-Ray from Decal Releasing with a behind-the-scenes featurette. A24 has one of the biggest releases of the week with The X Trilogy from director Ti West on 4K UHD Blu-Ray featuring X, Pearl, and MaXXXine in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio. Each film is provided with a new commentary track along with archival supplements.

We welcome beloved Australian label Umbrella Entertainment to the show with the mind-blowing release of the cult favorite Freaked starring Alex Winter on 4K UHD Blu-Ray from a 4K restoration in Dolby Vision. The Collector’s Edition release comes bursting with special features including a commentary track, hours of behind-the-scenes footage, new and archival interviews, featurettes, and more. Not to mention physical extras such as a hardbound book, a script, a comic book, a poster, and more. It’s a sight to behold.

Arrow Video comes to play this week with the hotly anticipated release of The Mask on 4K UHD Blu-Ray restored from the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos and original audio tracks. The Jim Carrey comedy classic comes with two commentary tracks, a video essay, interviews, deleted scenes, and more. They also have a pair of space dramas, starting with Red Planet starring Val Kilmer and Carrie-Anne Moss. The team at the Warner Archive has a dazzling slate of new releases this month. The label has its latest 4K UHD Blu-Ray release with the Hammer horror classic The Curse of Frankenstein starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee restored in 4K and presented in Dolby Vision with four commentary tracks, interviews, and more. Barbara Stanwyck gets into the middle of a murder plot opposite Henry Fonda in the screwball comedy The Mad Miss Manton on Blu-Ray from a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative with cartoons and a trailer. Things are a bit more serious in the noir Out of the Fog starring John Garfield and Ida Lupino on Blu-Ray from a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative with cartoons and a trailer.

Fans of classic Hollywood melodrama will want to pay attention to A Summer Place starring Sandra Dee on Blu-Ray from a 4K restoration of the Original Nitrate Negative. There is also Manhattan Melodrama starring Clark Gable, William Powell, and Myrna Loy on Blu-Ray derived from a 4K restoration of the best surviving preservation elements along with some shorts. For something a bit lighter, the musical comedy Lovely to Look At with Kathryn Grayson, Red Skelton, and Howard Keel comes to Blu-Ray from a 4K restoration of the Original Technicolor Camera Negative with shorts, cartoons, and more.
