For the week of October 14th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.
This week, we spotlight the highly anticipated 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the cult favorite musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, and Barry Bostwick from 20th Century Studios. The new release comes newly restored in 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, along with the restored original mono track. Special features include numerous featurettes, deleted scenes, music videos, and more. This is not the only major 4K UHD release this week as A Nightmare On Elm Street: The 7-Film Collection arrives from Warner Bros. with all seven original Robert Englund entries of the iconic horror franchise remastered in HDR10 with Dolby Atmos audio and new and archival special features.
We have some films fresh from theaters including the blockbuster racing drama F1: The Movie from Warner Bros. starring Brad Pitt. The 4K UHD Blu-Ray release comes with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio, and an array of featurettes. Universal continues the action offerings with Nobody 2 starring Bob Odenkirk, Christopher Lloyd, and Sharon Stone. The 4K UHD Blu-Ray release comes with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio, featurettes, and deleted scenes.
The fine folks at Lionsgate Limited have a slate of wonderful new releases. First, we have the Pete Davidson horror film The Home hitting 4K UHD Blu-Ray in HDR10 with Dolby Atmos audio and a commentary track. Nicolas Cage has the psychological thriller The Surfer on 4K UHD with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. The release comes with a commentary track and a featurette. Comedy fans will want to seek out the Bill Murray classic Meatballs on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a new 4K master in Dolby Vision with a new stereo track and the original mono. The release comes with a commentary track, new interviews, a making-of documentary, and more. Horror fans are eating well this week with High Tension on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with a 4K master in HDR10+ with an array of new and archival supplements.
The thrills continue over at Scream Factory with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of Monkey Shines from George A. Romero. The 4K UHD release comes from a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative with Dolby Vision. The special features include two commentary tracks, interviews, and more. The label has more 4K UHD debuts including the cult favorite sci-fi throwback Night of the Creeps, from a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative of the Director’s Cut with Dolby Vision, three commentary tracks, and tons of interviews. There is also the slasher Sorority House Massacre on 4K UHD Blu-Ray derived from a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with visual essays, interviews, and more. If you want more of a modern slasher, there is the pandemic-era home invasion thriller Sick on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio, commentary tracks, and interveiws.
Fans of Asian cinema are sitting pretty this week with some gems finally getting a proper Blu-Ray presentation. The crew at Eureka Entertainment keeps up the Hong Kong cinema classics with The Island (1985) restored in 2K with two new commentary tracks, interviews, and more. The label also has Furious Swords & Fantastic Warriors: The Heroic Cinema of Chang Cheh featuring ten films from the legendary filmmaker on Blu-Ray. Each film has a commentary track with additional interviews and video essays.
The heroes at Arrow Video continue to deliver quality work with an exciting slate of titles this month. John Carpenter fans can celebrate the 4K UHD Blu-Ray upgrade of In the Mouth of Madness starring Sam Neill, derived from a 4K restoration of the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with new and archival supplements. This is not the only 4K UHD upgrade as the dark comic book adaptation Spawn starring Michael Jai White arrives on the format from 4K restorations of the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision featuring both the Director’s Cut and the Theatrical Version. The release includes commentary tracks, interviews, making-of featurettes, and more. Abel Ferrara has the gritty revenge thriller Ms .45 hitting 4K UHD Blu-Ray newly remasterd in 4K from the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with new and archival supplements.
