For the week of October 21st, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.
This week, we spotlight the highly anticipated 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the summer horror hit Weapons from director Zach Cregger, courtesy of Warner Bros. The film starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich is presented in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio and a trio of featurettes. We have more films fresh from theaters including the pandemic thriller Eddington from A24 starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone. The Ari Aster film debuts on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio, and a making-of documentary.
Both Garner and Pascal pull double duty this week in The Fantastic Four: First Steps alongside Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn over at Disney. The latest Marvel film arrives on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos audio, and various special features such as a commentary track, deleted scenes, featurettes, and more. Lionsgate is starting the holidays early with the heartwarming comedy The Best Christmas Pageant Ever starring Judy Greer and Pete Holmes. The Blu-Ray comes with a Dolby Atmos audio track and a nice array of supplements including a commentary track, featurettes, deleted scenes, and bloopers.
Universal has a major release that we explore in-depth with Back to the Future Trilogy – 40th Anniversary 4K UHD Limited Edition Gift Set, featuring the three classic films in the franchise in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio. This set is stacked with new and archival special features including a new retrospective, a TCM Festival panel, a location scouting featurette, and more, to complement the previous commentary tracks, documentaries, and featurettes. This lavish set, complete with cool collectibles, is available exclusively at Amazon.
Television fans are in for a treat this week with the release of Peanuts: Ultimate TV Specials Collection on Blu-Ray from Warner Bros. with 40 classics specials, many of which have never been released in HD before. For those who want their animation a bit more mature, the label has the Adult Swim comedy Robot Chicken: The Complete Series on DVD with all 11 seasons and accompanying specials. There is also the Aaron Sorkin drama The Newsroom: The Complete Series on Blu-Ray from HBO with commentary tracks, deleted scenes, episode breakdowns, and more.

The heroes at Radiance Films continue to deliver quality work with the creepy Belgian fantasy drama Malpertuis on Blu-Ray from a 4K restoration. The release comes with a commentary track, interviews, a short film, an alternate cut of the film, and more. Altered Innocence has a pair of coming-of-age films on Blu-Ray with Angst by August: Zappa and Twist & Shout from director Billie August. Both films come with HD transfers, an interview, and a visual essay. MVD Entertainment dives into the vaults for Weeds starring Nick Nolte and Ernie Hudson on Blu-Ray from a 2K restoration of film elements. The release comes with an interview and a short film.
The folks at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have some 4K UHD Blu-Ray releases to admire. William Friedkin has the crime drama Rampage starring Michael Biehn presented with two cuts of the film restored in 4K in Dolby Vision. The release comes with a commentary track and interviews. There is also the Richard Stanley horror film Dust Devil presented with two cuts of the film restored in 4K from the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. The release comes with a commentary track and interviews.
