This week we spotlight one of the biggest blockbusters of the year with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of Deadpool & Wolverine. This release marks an exciting change for Disney as we see the return of Dolby Vision for the first time in years (outside of a title from James Cameron). The release also comes with a Dolby Atmos track and numerous special features including a commentary track, featurettes, deleted scenes, and more.
We also have some HBO shows on DVD including The Gilded Age: Season Two and Curb Your Enthusiasm: The Complete Series. The long-running Larry David series includes all 120 episodes from the series’ twelve critically acclaimed seasons, along with all the previously released special features.
We highlight one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year from Warner Bros. as the classic thriller The Hitcher debuts on 4K UHD Blu-Ray. This new release stems from a collaboration with overseas label Second Sight on a momentous restoration of the Original Camera Negative. The release comes with a top-notch presentation in Dolby Atmos with Dolby Vision, an audio commentary track, and an extensive interview with the director. The studio has also released a trio of newer movies on 4K UHD Blu-Ray including the Vacation reboot with Ed Helms, the star-studded comedy Tag with Jeremy Renner and Jon Hamm, and the Nancy Meyers dramedy The Intern starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Each of these films arrives in Dolby Vision with its original array of special features and a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio presentation.
We also take a look at the newest from Kino Lorber with the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the sci-fi western Cowboys & Aliens. The new 4K master of the Theatrical Cut arrives in SDR with archival special features and the Extended Cut included on Blu-Ray. We also have the release of the documentary Wolfman’s Got Nards on Blu-Ray featuring new special features. Fans of made-for-TV movies will not want to pass up the new Classic Ghosts: 1970s Gothic Television set featuring five feature-length teleplays, shot live on videotape and meticulously restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. These films have been virtually unseen since the original airings, which makes this a major win for physical media.
