For the week of September 10th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.
This week we dive into the eagerly anticipated 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the Taylor Sheridan drama Wind River available exclusively at Wal-Mart in a brand new SteelBook. The thrilling film starring Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen comes with a new 4K presentation in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio thanks to Lionsgate. We also have the cult horror favorite The Strangers from Scream Factory. This home invasion tale stars Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as a couple fighting for their lives against a trio of masked intruders. The new 4K Blu-Ray comes from a new 4K presentation of the Digital Intermediate in Dolby Vision with incredible legacy special features.
The lighter side of the label finds the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the Joe Dante comedy Matinee starring John Goodman courtesy of Shout! Studios. This new release comes from a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with a new Dolby Atmos track and new and archival special features. There is even more on the Blu-Ray front from the label including the dark Todd Solondz comedy Storytelling, the Madonna screwbally comedy Who’s That Girl, and the psychological thriller The Morning After starring Jane Fonda and Jeff Bridges.
We have a trio of new titles from one of our favorite boutique labels. Over at Radiance Films, we have the Seijun Suzuki Japanese yakuza drama Tattooed Life on Blu-Ray courtesy of a new HD master provided by Nikkatsu. The new release comes with newly edited archival featurettes and a new audio commentary track. We also have the Blu-Ray debut of the controversial Viva La Muerte from Spanish director Fernando Arrabal from a 4K restoration of the original 35mm camera negative. There is a wealth of special features including a feature-length documentary on the director. Finally, we have the Italian crime film A Man On His Knees from the great Damiano Damiani with a 4K restoration of the original camera negative. This release includes a number of supplements including new and archival interviews.
The amazing Deaf Crocodile has something old and something new for fans in stellar deluxe edition packaging. First up we have the absurd detective tale Adela Has Not Had Supper Yet from director Oldřich Lipský. This gorgeous new restoration on Blu-Ray is accompanied by a new commentary track and four restored animated shorts. We also have the Arthur Conan Doyle adaptation In The Moscow Slums from legendary Russian filmmaker Karen Shakhnazarov. This 2023 film has a rich array of special features including visual essays and extensive interviews that will enhance your appreciation of this one.
