A stack of assorted DVD and Blu-ray movie cases is arranged against a teal background, with titles visible on the case spines.

We at GVN aim to keep you informed of the newest and best in the world of physical media. Over on our YouTube Channel, you can find us talking about everything you need to know on No Streaming Required, our weekly guide to all the latest 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD releases.

For the week of September 16th, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week, we explore new action outings, beloved catalog favorites upgraded to 4K UHD, plus an exciting slate of gems from Kino Lorber. First up, Lionsgate has the revenge thriller Ballerina: From the World of John Wick starring Ana de Armas and Keanu Reeves arriving on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos. The release comes with a making-of documentary, featurettes, and deleted scenes. Things continue at Warner Bros. with the newest entry in the animated DC line, Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires, arriving on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in HDR10 with English and Spanish audio options and two featurettes.

We also spotlight the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the cult sci-fi fantasy film Krull from Sony, newly restored in 4K from the Original Camera Negative with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, along with the original audio options. The release comes with supplements including two commentary tracks, featurettes, and more. The sci-fi favorites continue as Disney releases the highly requested TRON and TRON: Legacy on 4K UHD Blu-Ray. These titles have been restored and remastered in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos audio tracks and legacy special features including a commentary track, deleted scenes, featurettes, and more.

The heroes at The Criterion Collection have a trio of wonderful titles this month. First, we have the Akira Kurosawa crime classic High and Low hitting 4K UHD Blu-Ray from a new 4K restoration of the 35mm Original Camera Negative in SDR. The release includes a commentary track, documentary, and interviews. The label also has the humanistic crime drama Read My Lips from director Jacques Audiard debuting on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in Dolby Vision from a restoration of the 35mm Original Camera Negative. This release includes a commentary track, featurettes, deleted scenes, and interviews. Finally, the label has the blistering feminist drama Born in Flames from director Lizzie Borden on Blu-Ray from a 2K restoration of the 16mm Internegative. Special features included a commentary track, an interview with Borden, and the documentary feature Regrouping.

Fans of satirical and queer cinema can look to Strand Releasing and their release of the hilarious, genre-spanning Psycho Beach Party returning to Blu-Ray for its 25th anniversary. The film starring Lauren Ambrose and Amy Adams has a commentary track with the creative team.

A man wearing a futuristic helmet and suit with glowing blue lines looks upward in a dimly lit, high-tech environment.

The folks at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have some 4K UHD Blu-Ray releases to admire. Jack Nicholson returns to one of his most iconic roles in The Two Jakes with a 4K scan of the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. The release comes with a commentary track and a trio of interviews. We stay in the crime realm with the long-requested Night of the Juggler starring James Brolin, newly restored in 4K from the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. This comes with a commentary track, interviews, and featurettes. There are some shady dealings afoot in the military school drama The Lords of Discipline starring David Keith which has been newly scanned in 4K from the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. The release comes with a commentary track and two interviews.

The 4K UHD upgrades continue as the disaster franchise Airport gets overhauled courtesy of the label. Airport has been given a 4K scan of the 35mm Interpositive, while Airport 1975, Airport ’77, and The Concorde: Airport ’79 have received 4K scans of the 35mm Original Camera Negative. All of these releases are presented in Dolby Vision with commentary tracks. Things are not taken as seriously in the spoof of this franchise, Airplane II: The Sequel, similarly comes to 4K UHD Blu-Ray from a 4K scan of the 35mm Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision. The release comes with a pair of commentary tracks.

Action fans can celebrate the 4K UHD Blu-Ray upgrade of The Rundown starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Seann William Scott, Rosario Dawson, and Christoper Walken. The new release is derived from a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with three commentary tracks, deleted scenes, and more. We also have the prison boxing drama Undisputed starring Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames from director Walter Hill. The 4K UHD Blu-Ray comes with a 4K scan of the Original Camera Negative in Dolby Vision with a commentary track, interviews, and archival featurettes.
