For the week of September 2nd, we have some incredible releases making their way to our shelves. Read on to get a brief overview of what you should have on your wishlist, then be sure to dive into the full rundown in the video below.

This week, we spotlight the 4K UHD Blu-Ray debut of the ’80s cult comedy favorite Better Off Dead starring John Cusack from Paramount. The release comes with Dolby Vision, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track, and a trailer. Arriving fresh from theaters, we have the Blu-Ray debut of the exorcism horror thriller The Ritual from Decal starring Al Pacino and Dan Stevens, which includes four featurettes. The label also has the sci-fi thriller Watch The Skies on Blu-Ray which includes both the original Swedish language track and the English track. If you need something more lighthearted, there is the action comedy Bride Hard on Blu-Ray from Magenta Light featuring Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Anna Chlumsky, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph.

Boutique labels are really showing off this month with some lavish releases of beloved classics. The folks at Imprint Films have debuted the Oscar-winning drama Midnight Cowboy starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight on 4K UHD Blu-Ray with Dolby Vision and two audio tracks. The release is loaded with special features including two commentary tracks, various featurettes, and the 2022 documentary Desperate Souls, Dark City and the Legend of Midnight Cowboy on Blu-Ray. Cult Epics continues to build up their arsenal of exciting international discoveries with the Blu-Ray release of the Dutch aviation drama Dakota from 1974. The film has been restored in 2K with fascinating new and archival special features.

The thrills build up over at 88 Films with the Blu-Ray debut of the Hong Kong sci-fi cult classic The Cat from Ngai Choi Lam. The release comes with the original Cantonese audio, a commentary track, interviews, and more. Things remain eerie as Altered Innocence releases the haunting indie coming-of-age film The Maiden from director Graham Foy. The Blu-Ray includes a commentary track, deleted scenes, and more.

The fine folks at Vinegar Syndrome and OCN Distribution have an exciting slate of Partner Label titles on 4K UHD and Blu-Ray this month. First up from Cinematographe, we have the unusual Paul Morrissey gang satire Mixed Blood on 4K UHD Blu-Ray from a 4K restoration of the Original Camera Negative with Dolby Vision and the original mono. The special features include a commentary track, interviews, a video essay, and more. They also have the Blu-Ray debut of the humorous noir throwback The Woman Chaser starring Patrick Warburton in the original uncensored black-and-white, along with an alternate color version. This has been given a 2K restoration of the Original Camera Negative along with two new commentary tracks and two new interviews.

A new partner label joins the family as Hope Runs High debuts the dark satire We Might As Well Be Dead on Blu-Ray with various interviews and conversations. Kani has helped rescue the pivotal Filipino drama Bona from obscurity with a new 4K restoration presented on 4K UHD Blu-Ray in Dolby Vision with new interviews, a Q&A, a short film, and more. IFC Films has a pair of erotic dramas on Blu-Ray including Young and Beautiful from director François Ozon and Breaking the Girls from Jamie Babbit. Each release is provided with new commentary tracks and various other supplements.

The mainline of Film Movement has two rewarding documentaries hitting Blu-Ray with the emotional Korean love story My Love, Don’t Cross That River and the twisty Swedish mystery The Gullspang Miracle. Over at the sister label Film Movement Classics, we have the re-release of the Oscar-winning epic Pelle the Conqueror starring Max von Sydow on Blu-Ray with a 2K restoration and a commentary track. ETR Media has the epic documentary You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night on Blu-Ray that details the creation of the first two Fright Night films. The release comes with additional interviews and special trailers.
