As described by our friends in the ever-knowing world of Wikipedia, the word Kaiju (Japanese: 怪獣, Hepburn: Kaijū, lit. ’Strange Beast’) is a Japanese genre of films and television featuring giant monsters. When you think of Kaiju, images of Godzilla and Mothra probably come to mind. However, in the minds of creators Sam Haine and John Schrad, Kaiju obviously brings up thoughts of Christmas. At least as far as their new book, A Kaiju Christmas is concerned.
Now in Kickstarter, Haine and Schrad have combined to bring a children’s book for all ages. Based on The Night Before Christmas, A Kaiju Christmas changes things up. Instead of a Santa flying down to drop off presents, a giant monster snowman appears through an extra-dimensional portal to ruin the holidays! And it’s up to a group of brave kids to save Christmas and the world!
pgs.1/2 “’Twas the fright before Christmas, when outside the base, A rumble and bumble and a rip in time-space.”
pgs.19/20 “They dashed and they flew and they kicked with their feet, But the snowman too tough for their hooves to back beat.”
pgs.21/22 “They jabbed with their horns, even gave missiles a shot, Yet the creature just laughed, go down it would not.”
The 8.5″ 11″ Hardcover will be 40 pages of digitally painted full-page art, printed on gloss 80lb paper stock to be able to stand up for many years to come and still look amazing!
