October is shaping up to be one of the busiest streaming months of 2026, and appropriately enough, horror is going to have a major presence.
Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, HBO Max and several other services are preparing new original series, returning favorites and sizable collections of movies throughout the month. From Mike Flanagan’s new take on Carrie to the long-awaited Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake, there is plenty arriving just in time for Halloween.
Marvel fans also have VisionQuest coming to Disney+, while Paramount+ is bringing back both Tulsa King and Dexter: Resurrection. Netflix, meanwhile, kicks off the month with Florence Pugh leading its new adaptation of East of Eden.

Netflix Has a Packed October Lineup
Netflix gets October started with one of the month’s bigger prestige releases, East of Eden. The seven-episode limited series adapts John Steinbeck’s classic novel and stars Florence Pugh as Cathy Ames alongside Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton and Ciarán Hinds. All seven episodes arrive October 1.
October 1 also brings a huge collection of library titles. Among the more recognizable additions are 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, 8 Mile, Ad Astra, The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Devil Wears Prada, The Equalizer, The Prestige, The Sixth Sense and the entire Twilight movie saga.
Netflix is also loading up on horror for the Halloween season. Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, Crimson Peak, Hush, Psycho, Red Dragon, Split, The Strangers and I Know What You Did Last Summer are among the titles hitting the service.
Later in the month, The Diplomat returns for Season 4 on October 15, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrives October 20, and Lupin returns with Part 4 on October 23.
Mike Flanagan’s Carrie Arrives on Prime Video
One of October’s biggest horror releases belongs to Prime Video.
Mike Flanagan is returning to Stephen King territory with Carrie, an eight-episode television adaptation of King’s debut novel. Summer H. Howell stars as Carrie White, with Flanagan serving as showrunner, writer and director. All eight episodes arrive October 7.
Prime Video will follow that with Helluva Boss on October 14 and The Terminal List on October 21.
For horror fans, however, Carrie is easily going to be one of the month’s biggest streaming events.
Marvel’s VisionQuest Comes to Disney+
Marvel Studios is returning to Disney+ on October 14 with VisionQuest.
The series follows the rebuilt Vision as he attempts to understand his new existence while dealing with several AI personalities embedded within his programming, including Ultron, JARVIS, FRIDAY and EDITH. His attempt to remain hidden takes a turn when a bounty puts him on the run alongside Thomas Shepard, a mysterious young man who may have an important connection to Vision’s past.
Disney+ and Hulu’s October schedule also includes Adventure Time: Side Quests on October 2, a new season of The Kardashians on October 7 and The Mob on October 26.
Crystal Lake Brings Friday the 13th Back to Peacock
October wouldn’t be complete without Jason Voorhees — or, in this case, the events that helped create the legend.
Crystal Lake premieres October 15 exclusively on Peacock. The eight-episode Friday the 13th prequel comes from Peacock and A24 and stars Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, with Callum Vinson playing a young Jason Voorhees. The story takes audiences back to Crystal Lake and explores Pamela in the aftermath of her son’s drowning.
Peacock is also turning itself into a horror destination throughout October. Beginning October 1, subscribers will find a massive group of genre favorites including American Psycho, the Blade trilogy, Cloverfield, The Fly, Fright Night, From Dusk Till Dawn, Jennifer’s Body, Krampus, Paranormal Activity, Saw, Scream, Silent Hill, Sinister and The Silence of the Lambs.
Several Friday the 13th movies are also joining Peacock ahead of Crystal Lake, giving fans a convenient opportunity to revisit the franchise.
Tulsa King and Dexter Return to Paramount+
Paramount+ has two significant returning series scheduled for October.
Tulsa King Season 4 premieres October 16, with Sylvester Stallone returning as Dwight Manfredi. This time around, Dwight is attempting to legitimize his growing empire while facing new enemies, political corruption and problems within his own world.
Then, just before Halloween, Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan.
Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres October 30. The new season finds Dexter facing two killers while simultaneously dealing with a much more ordinary threat: getting older. Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, will also continue his own journey as father and son once again find themselves pulled deeper into dangerous territory.
Avatar: Seven Havens is also scheduled to arrive on Paramount+ on October 9.
What’s Coming to HBO Max, Apple TV, AMC+ and BritBox?
The rest of the streaming landscape has several noteworthy October releases as well.
HBO Max premieres War on October 1, while Apple TV has Small Prophets arriving October 7 and Nocturne on October 30.
BritBox adds Ludwig on October 13, while AMC+ has Kill Jackie scheduled for October 2 and Yaga arriving October 23.
October 2026 Is Going to Be Huge for Horror Streaming
There are big releases scattered across nearly every genre this October, but horror fans appear to be getting the best deal.
Prime Video has Mike Flanagan’s Carrie. Peacock has Crystal Lake alongside an enormous horror movie collection. Netflix is bringing in plenty of recognizable horror titles of its own, and Paramount+ is dropping the second season of Dexter: Resurrection on October 30.
Add VisionQuest, East of Eden, Tulsa King and the month’s other returning series, and October is looking like a particularly strong month for streaming.
