While I ended up enjoying 2018’s Venom, the trailers for the first Tom Hardy-led Sony film did nothing to capture me. As much as I love Hardy, none of the trailers for that movie excited me – I only went to see it because of Hardy and the fact that it’s a comic book film. Maybe it was due to my low expectations that I ended up liking it so much, but either way, I didn’t dislike it the way others did.
Poor Eddie Brock
However, the trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has roped me in within seconds. It is the epitome of chaotic goodness that I am buzzing from excitement. We start the trailer with Eddie and Venom coexisting with each other the best they can. While they aren’t necessarily at odds, as they are in the first one; poor Eddie looks worn out. And I have to say, I am looking forward to this symbiotic, alien/human, odd couple.
Woody Harrelson Is Gonna Kill It
While there are plenty of hilarious moments, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is really benefiting from Woody Harrelson’s addition. Playing Cletus Kasady aka Carnage, it looks like Venom is going to have a much more vicious enemy than the one he faced in the first movie. I’m loving this whole twisted, sinister web that’s being woven with Carnage’s introduction. The trailer had equal parts funny with an uneasy danger that I hope builds up just as well as it did in the trailer.
I Give This Trailer 5/5 Stars
With Andy Serkis directing, I really think that this second Venom movie is going to be great. Hopefully, it will live up to the hype around it. With having enjoyed the first one and the trailer for the second one, my expectations are higher than they were for the 2018 one. But, I’ll still temper my expectations and go in to be entertained; I’m fairly confident we’re going to enjoy this.
