Putting a new spin on the Kaiju/Jaeger conflict that encompasses the series, you can check out the synopsis for the anime series:
“Returning to the epic battle of Kaiju and Jaegers, this original anime series will expand upon the story of the first two live-action movies and follow two siblings — an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister — who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents.”
The news was announced at Netflix’s Asian showcase event and considering how popular the movies were, a Pacific Rim anime will probably do well on a platform like the streaming service. The first movie premiered in 2013 from the mastermind Guillermo del Toro and we finally got a sequel a little earlier this year. Fans can also keep a lookout for a third Pacific Rim, despite the second film not doing as well as the first.
The upcoming anime series will be co-showrun by Craig Kyle of Thor: Ragnarok and Greg Johnson of X-Men: Evolution – both great projects, so the Pacific Rim anime is already up to a great start. There’s no premiere date yet, but we will keep you informed as we find out more.
