Patrick Stewart: New ‘Picard’ Series Was Made To Binge

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16400″ img_size=”900×500″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]It is a pretty good rule of thumb that when a Knighted individual asks you to do something, you probably should consider listening to him. Especially when that man is Ser Patrick Stewart, from Star Trek and X-Man fame. As pretty much everyone knows by now, Stewart is in the process of returning to his Star Trek roots and is once again playing the role of Jean-Luc Picard. The main reason he decided to take on the role was he was promised that the direction they would be going with the character was completely unlike what he had done before. This includes writing the series in a story driven vehicle that spans over each episode as opposed the the episodic format that the Next Generation used to great effect. Stewart explained the differences and how he hopes audiences will take in his new series..

In The Next Generation, it was a story, a different story, a different story, all with the same characters as many series are. But this time it is one story, from beginning to end. I hope that will lead people to…binge-watching, that it might lead to something like that because the idea of it being an unfolding narrative is really terrific.

It is Stewart’s hope that the series will run for a number of seasons depending on audience reaction and if the writers can continue to impress him with the stories they want to tell. So far so good as far as the writing goes. Are you looking forward to seeing what CBS All-Access has in store for the new stories of Jean-Luc Picard? Share your enthusiasm with us at GVNation.
