Picazor The Accurate Facebook Story Downloading Tool – Review

Picazor Facebook Stories downloader web page with a link input field and download button.

I had a Fox News story open on Facebook with “Recorded live, 23h” written at the top, which means it had about an hour left before Facebook took it down for good. It was the SpaceX Crew-13 launch, the rocket standing on the pad with 4 astronauts about to go up, and I wanted to keep it. So I typed “facebook story downloader” into Google like anyone would, and that one hour got a lot tighter than I expected, because most of what Google put in front of me couldn’t download it.

A Fox News Story With 6 Slides And An Hour To Go

The story was on Fox News’ public page. You can count 6 bars across the top, so it has 6 slides, and the first one is the live launch video they shared into the story. This is the link I copied from my browser:

    https://www.facebook.com/stories/103756801614191/UzpfSVNDOjI1NzU3ODI4NTk2MDI2OTg=/?view_single=1

I gave every tool this exact link. So when one worked and another didn’t, the link wasn’t the reason.

Why I Didn’t Install The Play Store App

The first thing Google showed me was a story saver app on Google Play. I have no idea why Google pushes an app for this when a story can be saved from a website, right there in the browser I already had open. Apps like that start asking for permissions the second you open them, and then they want you to allow them to manage other apps on your phone. I was trying to save one Fox News clip, and I wasn’t going to give an app that kind of access to my phone for it.

SmallSEOTools Is Great At Plagiarism, Not At Stories

A bit further down, Google was ranking SmallSEOTools for the same search. I’ve used SmallSEOTools for years to check plagiarism, and it was really good at that, so I put the Fox News link into it without thinking twice. It didn’t bring the story back.

A plagiarism checker that can’t make a copy of a story, I suppose that’s at least on brand.

My guess is Google sees the SmallSEOTools name and all the years of links pointing at it, and hands the story page the same trust, even though that page doesn’t do what the search was asking for.

What Happened When I Tried The Link On Picazor

On Picazor I dropped the same link in and pressed Download. It came back showing the Fox News story with [X] items, and the launch clip was there among them with its own button, ready to save as a video file. It didn’t ask for permission, it didn’t pop anything up, and it didn’t send me off to install something first. After the Play Store app, the missing permission screen was honestly the first thing I noticed.

I had the story saved with most of the hour still left.

Picazor says it fetches the story from its own server rather than through your Facebook account, so Fox News wouldn’t see my name sitting in their story viewers. I can’t check Fox News’ viewer list, so that part comes from Picazor, not from me.

What I Count As Accurate For A Story

For me, accurate means the file I end up with is the slide I was watching on Facebook, from that same account, in the same form it was posted. If it was a video, I want a video, and if the story had 6 slides, I want to see all of them listed so I can pick.

SmallSEOTools never got that far with my link, and the Play Store app wanted my phone before it would even try. Picazor was the only one of the three that took the link I gave it and showed me the story I’d been watching.

Where Picazor Says It Can’t Help

Picazor writes its limits on its own homepage, and I’d rather read that than a banner promising it downloads everything. It won’t fetch:

    • Stories from private accounts

    • Stories that have already expired, so my one hour really did matter

    • Live streams while they’re still running. The Fox story said “recorded live”, which means it was already a replay by the time I got to it, and that’s why it worked

    • Posts that were deleted after you copied the link

There’s also a cap of 20 downloads an hour and 100 a day for each person. That’s meant to stop scripts from hammering the site, and someone saving a launch video will never get close to it.

Why I Call It The Only Accurate One

Out of what Google ranked for my search, Picazor was the only tool that gave me the Fox News story from that link, although in my bookmarks I already have powerful sites like 9Vids or UKdevliz which are powered by Cobalt which is very powerful and open source still can’t fetch FB stories like this, so if PICAZOR is a player here I may appreciate with nothing to install and no permissions to hand over. There could be a good one sitting on page 3 of Google that I never opened. But the next time a story you want is showing 23h at the top, I’d try Picazor before installing any app from the Play Store.
