The story of an animated wooden doll who wants to be a “real boy” and whose nose elongates whenever he tells a lie, has been referred to in pop culture for years since its 1940s movie adaptation of the 1883 children’s novel. Believe or not, Pinocchio has had a view live-action renditions, including a 2000 version, Geppetto, starring comedians Drew Carey and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
There seems to be conflicting news coverage though. As it was originally stated that Chris Weitz, who wrote Rogue One; would write the script. Then apparently the script was being rewritten by Jack Thorne. Gig Patta then spoke about the updates surrounding the Pinocchio film:
“It’s going to shot in England and Italy starting next year. We’re still in the early stages of, you know, development and developing the script, so there’s no casting to talk about, but I’m very excited about it.”
Conflicting reports indeed. Regardless, Pinocchio is still on Disney’s schedules for a live-action remake, so we’ll keep you updated as we hear more!
