While Disney has decided to scrap a lot of Fox projects due to Dark Phoenix’s abysmal earnings, some franchises such as Avatar and Planet of the Apes are safe!

Bob Iger spoke during Disney’s earnings call:

“One of the biggest issues was the Fox studio performance which was well below where it had been and well below where we hoped it would be when we made the acquisition.”

Iger continued, saying that they would take certain projects:

“…in a new direction, with an all new development slate that will focus on a select group of properties.”

We are unsure if the upcoming Planet of the Apes movies will be a continuation from the group of films made in the recent years or will restart altogether. Cameron’s Avatars movies will be sequels from the original.
