The cult classic first-person shooter Postal 2 is getting a complete modern rebuild. Original developer Running With Scissors, working with Flat2VR, Team Beef, and Impact Reality, has confirmed that Postal 2 Redux will launch in the first quarter of 2027.
The project, a full remake built in Unity 6, successfully funded its Kickstarter campaign in a single day. It is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and VR platforms.
What’s New in the Rebuild
Players will once again step into the shoes of the Postal Dude in the chaotic town of Paradise, Arizona. The game remains an open sandbox where each day can unfold however the player chooses, ranging from quiet errands to total mayhem. No two playthroughs are meant to feel the same thanks to a living, reactive world.
The beloved dog Champ returns with expanded interactions. Players will be able to pet him, bring him along on adventures, or even use him in more creative (and destructive) ways.
Technical upgrades accompanying the move to Unity 6 include improved textures, lighting, materials, and shaders. Level streaming has been enhanced for smoother travel through the town. NPCs are receiving smarter behavior and better reactions to the player and their surroundings. Combat is being rebalanced, and a new physics system is being introduced.
A Long Road Back
The original Postal 2 released in 2003 and quickly became known for its extreme humor and controversy. IGN scored it a 5.5 out of 10 at the time. More than two decades later, the Redux version aims to bring the same unapologetic style to a new generation of hardware while modernizing the experience under the hood.
With funding secured and a clear Q1 2027 window announced, fans of the series now have a firm date to look forward to for the Postal Dude’s return.
