Potentially 4,000 Jobs Lost Due To Disney/Fox Deal

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”10474″ img_size=”800×450″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]When people hear the word merger they immediately think “What will change?”. If you are an employee for a company going through a merger that word can scare the hell out of you. I used to work for a bank and there were always talks of mergers. Mergers usually do not bode well for employees if the company being absorbed and it can lead to hundred or in this case thousands of people losing their jobs. While fans around the globe chanted with glee because Marvel finally got the rights back to the Fantastic Four and X-Men, employees for Fox began to wonder if they would have a job once this was complete. A new report from Variety reveals the ugly truth behind this merger and they report around 4,000 people could be losing their jobs.

“There are rumors that some employees will be asked to stay on for a transitional period while others will be given severance packages almost immediately. Employees who are staying on expect to be told who they will report to by Thursday,”

Bob Iger sent out a note after the deal was done which might indicate that firings will indeed happen

“Our integration process will be an evolution, with some businesses impacted more than others, We’ve made many critical decisions already, but some areas still require further evaluation. We may not have answers to all of your questions at this moment but we understand how vital information is, and we’re committed to moving as quickly as possible to provide clarity regarding how your role may be impacted.”

No other details have been revealed at this time but we will be sure to report on it once it does. Truthfully you cannot blame Disney for this because Fox was going to sell to someone whether it be Disney, Comcast or another bidder. This is sad reality we live in but I do hope these employees will be well compensated and can find gainful employment somewhere else.
