PS Plus Games and Best Deals For December 2019

Well, folks, it’s finally here. December is right around the corner, the Christmas season is upon us. Not to mention its out final PS plus offerings of 2019. Its been a wild ride this year with some truly brilliant ups and some rather disappointing downs. How will PS Plus end off the year? There’s only one way to find out. As always there are 2 games up for grabs, available to those of us with an active PS Plus subscription. You can pick up both titles on the first Tuesday of the month, December 3rd. December is certainly a mixed month, as PS Plus always is around this time of year. However with one of the best first-person shooters ever made up for grabs PlayStation gave us one last holiday gift.

Titanfall 2

First up this month we have Titanfall 2. The futuristic first-person shooter coming from Respawn Entertainment. It isn’t an understatement to tell you that Titanfall 2 is still one of the best shooters I have ever played. Titanfall’s biggest selling point is, of course, the Titans. Gigantic mech suits that you, the piolet can call into battle and operate. Without sounding too corny they are more than machines, something the games excellent story does a great job of telling. It’s unfortunate launch back in 2016 between Call of Duty and Battlefield didn’t exactly help but fans of the game will tell you that 3 years later it’s still as excellent as ever.

For those of you that don’t know Apex Legends is a spiritual successor to Titanfall 2, set in the same universe. That same buttery smooth gunplay and traversal we all love from Apex was born in Titanfall 2. The game was praised at launch, not only for its fantastic singleplayer experience, despite a rather short 6-7 hour length. But also for its absolutely brilliant multiplayer which still holds up today. Hell, it even outshines the newest of competitors like Battlefield V and Modern Warfare.

Titanfall 2 is a must-play for any FPS fan and definitely a must-play if you’re an Apex Legends fan. Here’s hoping putting the game on PS Plus will draw some new blood into the game.

The game received overwhelmingly good reviews at launch and boasts a Metacritic score of 89 and a user score of 8.4. Check out the trailer below.

Monster Energy Supercross The Offical Video Game

Next up we have our final game for 2019. Let’s be honest, if Titanfall 2 is the confetti from the party popper, this is all that horrible smoke that gets caught in the back of your throat afterward. Monster Energy Supercross The Offical Video Game, apart from having a stupidly long title and obnoxious energy drink adds is a dirt bike rally game. Obviously, because the game is officially licensed you can expect to see all the tracks from the real-life event brought to life digitally. These are what make up the singleplayer career mode. If you prefer an arcade sort of feel you can adjust braking and handling to make it feel just right for you. This is done by using your right analog stick to shift your rider’s weight to go round corners.

Heres what many players consider the best bit. The games rewind function. We’ve all had those anger infused moments and I’m sure many of us have lost a controller or two during a race. Well, Supercross’ rewind ability lets you go back in time to retry that tricky corner or particularly awkward jump.

Supercross has a Metacritic score of 67 and a user score of 6.8. If you’re interested in watching the trailer just click below.

Bonus PSVR Game

To any of my fellow PSVR players out there, December will also see a bonus PSVR game up for grabs…well sort of. There will be a free 1 week-long trial for Firewall Zero Hour the PSVR first-person shooter. The game can either be played with a standard Dualshock 4 controller or the PSVR Aim controller which I know many of us probably don’t have. Still, a fun free trial which any PSVR owner should definitely check out.

Deal of the Week

On offer this week, just in time for Black Friday is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. With 25% off the game is down to £44.99. Normally I’d say it’s worth picking up but you can get it cheaper during Black Friday I’m sure.

PS Plus freebies

There are some pretty interesting PS Plus freebies for free games up for grabs right now. These include the Apex legends PS Plus Play Pack, the PS Plus Celebration Pack for Fortnite and the Royal Steel Weapon pack for Dauntless. All worth looking at if you play any of those games.

Black Friday Deals

With Black Friday literally right around the corner, the PlayStation Store has a huge range of deals up for grabs. There’s way too many for us to go over all them here but below are some that stood out to me.

  • Need for Speed Heat – £41.99
  • Marvels Spider-Man – £15.99
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 – £29.99

So, that finally wraps it up. Not just Decembers PS Plus offerings but all of 2019’s. Certainly not the strongest way to end the year but Titanfall 2 is an absolute must-play for anyone who hasn’t yet had the chance. What are your thoughts on December’s PS Plus games? Lets us know all your thoughts down below or over on Twitter. Also, be sure to let us know what games you’ll be picking up in the Black Friday sales.
