PS Plus Games and Best Deals For February 2019

February is rolling around and with it comes a whole host of brand new titles for PlayStation Plus owners. Unfortunately, this will be the last time PS Plus will include PS3 and PSvita titles because as of March 2019 they will no longer be on offer. I will be sad to see them go, especially because the old retro PS3 games can sometimes be some of the coolest games up for grabs on here but hopefully, this change will mean even more support and hopefully more titles for us PS4 players.

With all that out the way, February is easily one of the best months we’ve seen for quite some time with some utterly excellent PS4 titles and some fantastic PS3 games to act as a fond farewell to the console. Let’s get into this.

For Honor

Yes, you read that right. The epic clash of Samurai steel, Viking madness, and the nobility of Knights that is For Honor will be completely free next month. For Honor released around 2 years ago with a fairly uneven start with some reviewers absolutely loving the games graphics and brutal melee focused combat and others feeling underwhelmed due to a fairly poor story and some serious online connectivity issues at launch. Similar to Rainbow Six Seige, yet another Ubisoft title, however, For Honor over the last 2 years has grown into a pretty damn good game. Consistent support from Ubisoft’s end, a passionate core fanbase and plenty of DLC characters means For Honor is still just a ferocious as it was 2 years ago. If you’ve never seen For Honor before the gameplay is fairly simple with you engaging in 1V1 (or maybe 1V2 if you’re playing against dishonorable opponents) duels with a whole host of various characters all of which have their own fighting styles, moves, and abilities.

The game is a serious improvement now compared to launch, and with current live events occurring such as the recent Assassin’s Creed crossover, you can bet there’s still plenty to come in For Honor’s future. Will you try and master every warrior or remain loyal to one faction? lets us know over on Twitter.

Hitman: The Complete First Season

Next up is yet another fantastic title from 2016, Hitman: The Complete First Season which includes the Patient Zero DLC as well as some unique outfits which range from the bizarre to downright hilarious. Playing as one of gaming most infamous assassins Agent 47 you must travel the globe picking off various targets as you do. Each mission can be played by you shooting the whole place to hell but the real beauty of Hitman is entering, taking out your target, and leaving completely unnoticed. This demands total concentration and understanding of the various maps as well as NPC pathways and game mechanics but its all worth it when you pull off that perfect assassination. Plus there are multiple ways to take targets out so there’s plenty of replayability here. Review’s for Hitman were positive all around and to get the complete first season packaged up like this for free is an offer you simply can’t refuse. Will you be giving Hitman: The Complete First Season a look at throughout February?

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot

Next up for, what will most likely be the final time, the PS3 we have what some people will say is one of the best games of the console Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot. Playing as Old Snake AKA Solid Snake whos now greying, MGS 4 shows you his last mission’s as he finally wraps up the story which began for some players back in 1998. It picked up damn near perfect scores all round at launch and is an utterly fantastic way to say goodbye to the PS3 on PS Plus.

DiveKick

The next PS3 title up for grabs is DiveKick, a 2D fighting game which is about as basic as they come with the entire game being about…diving and kicking. I know, you never would have guessed. It looks completly ridiculous both with its cartoonish style and utterly hilarious gameplay and whilst it’s obviously nowhere near the caliber of the other game mentioned it could be a pretty fun time especially if you’re playing with friends. What do you think, even if it is for a quick laugh is DiveKick worth checking out?

Gunhouse

The first of 2 Vita games now, both of which are playable on the PS4 is Gunhouse. This is a tower-defense game which released last year that pits you against some truly weird and wonderful bosses whilst you fight to protect a group of orphans. Apart from some strange stylistic choices, this game is pretty much ‘what you see is what you get’. If these types of game float your boat then get stuck in and rack up that body count. If not you might want to steer clear of Gunhouse for this month.

Rogue Ace’s

It’s games like Rogue Aces that are going to make me miss the PS3 and Vita titles. No story, not hard-hitting dilemmas or difficult choices. Just good old fashioned arcade fun. Piolet a pixilated fighter plane as you fly through a warzone blasting enemy piolets out of the sky, blowing up building’s, and burning zeppelins to the ground. This would work perfectly on the Vita but it looks like so much fun it might even keep its spot on the PS4. Will you be testing out your piloting skills in Rogue Aces?

That wraps it up for this month and wow what a fantastic offering. For Honor and Hitman are absolute must get’s, especially after I abandoned For Honor shortly after launch, a mistake a regret to this day, and Rogue Ace’s looks like a whole load of fun. What will you be picking up in February? Let us know over on Twitter.

PS Plus Deals

It appears so may excellent PS plus games has taken a toll on the PS Plus deals this month. A fairly poor selection I must say but a couple of standouts were Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition with 72% off and Darksiders: Warmastered Edition with 69% off. There’s also a couple of PSVR games up for grabs with Pixel Ripped 1989 going for £9.99 and Guns’n’stories: Bulletproof VR going for £9.89.

Games Under £16

We’ve got some pretty incredible games for under £16 on PSN right now with Rise of the Tomb Raider at £8.99, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at £12.99, Batman Arkham Collection for £15.99 which includes Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight along with all their respective DLC. That is one of the best deals on PlayStation right now and if you have never played that trilogy you absolutely must. Seriously, Arkham City is still the best comic book game ever made. The last couple of standouts for me are the Battlefield Anniversary Bundle which includes Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, and Hardline all for £12.99 and finally Dishonored: the Complete Collection which includes the first and second game along with Death of the Outsider for a mere 15.99.  Some pretty incredible titles you should definitely check out if you’ve never played them before.

So that about does it for February 2019. Easily one of the best months we’ve had for quite some time on PS Plus and even some pretty great deals to sprinkle on top. Yes, its a shame seeing PS3 and Vita go out of the PS Plus family but at least they went out with a bang. What games will you be trying out this month?
